Over the past couple of years, the HGSA has endorsed a number of causes or taken a position on matters of concern to our members.

Recent endorsements include signing our support to the SFU Living Wage Campaign to demand that SFU pay its employees a suitable wage for Vancouver’s high cost of living, and pledging our support to residents of SFU’s Louis Riel House, on-campus graduate housing which, despite the protest of many segments of the university community, was closed in 2015.

In November, 2015, following reports of sexual assault involving members of the history department at UBC, the HGSA wrote an open letter addressed to the department and graduate chairs of the history departments at SFU, UBC, and UVic, calling for action to maintain the safety of our students.
